Council Meeting Highlights - May 3, 2023
Catch up with what happened at last weeks East Zorra-Tavistock Council Meeting with a quick read of the meeting highlights below.
During the Meeting
- Staff reports were presented and discussed by Council. There was much discussion surrounding dust suppression and dust suppression techniques. The 2023 Draft Operating and Capital Budget currently includes an additional $50,000 for dust control measures.
- The 2023 Draft Operating and Capital Budget binders were distributed to Council to allow for Council to review and prepare for the Special Meeting of Council working session to be held on Thursday May 11, 2023. Council discussed the budget at a high level with further conversation to take place at the Special Meeting of Council. On a preliminary basis, there is a proposed tax rate change of 4.55%, subject to change.
- Councillor Van Wyk raised speed concerns in Tavistock. Now that the winter weather is over, staff will begin to utilize the Township's speed data equipment to address areas of concern. The 2023 Draft Operating and Capital Budget includes funding for speed control measures.
- The Draft Municipal Alcohol Policy is being amended by staff. Council requested staff to make some minor adjustments and return with the amended policy at a future meeting. The final policy should be presented at the May 17, 2023 Regular Meeting of Council.
Next Council Meeting
Council will have a Special Meeting of Council on Thursday May 11, 2023 at 9:00am to review the 2023 Draft Operating and Capital Budgets.
The next regularly scheduled East Zorra-Tavistock Council Meeting is set for Wednesday May 17, 2023 at 7:00pm.
