Council Meeting Highlights - March 20, 2024
Catch up with what happened at last weeks East Zorra-Tavistock Council Meeting with a quick read of the meeting highlights below.
During the Meeting
- Council reviewed the November 2023 to January 2024 Rural Oxford Economic Development Corporation Activity Report, as well as Oxford County's 2023 Annual Transportation System Performance Report.
- Staff Report #HRSC2024-03 Social Media Policy was presented to Council for discussion and approved.
- Staff Report #CIO2024-03 Flag Policy was presented to Council for discussion and approved. The policy includes direction for half-masting flags at Township facilities, as well as procedures for the new community flagpole. The policy is effective as of March 21, 2024.
- The contract for 2024 Granular 'A' Resurfacing was awarded to 1551659 Ontario Inc. o/a Steve Hart Excavating.
- Staff Report #CAO2024-03 was reviewed with Council. One item of note was that the Township received its 2022 Financial Indicator Review. East Zorra-Tavistock once again had positive scores. The Township scored low in all financial categories for Level of Risk to its financial health, and exceeds the Provincial average.
- By-law 2024-12 - Employee Appointment By-law (Deputy Clerk) was presented to Council and approved.
- Council discussed outdoor commercial patios in the Township. Direction was provided to Staff to report back to Council with some background information and options for Council to consider regarding patios.
- Council discussed recreation facility booking and user fees. Direction was provided to staff to report back to Council with recommendations regarding same day ice rentals and other user fee amendments.

The next regularly scheduled East Zorra-Tavistock Council Meeting is set for Wednesday April 3, 2024 at 9:00am.
