Accessibility

The Township is required to comply with several requirements under the the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005.  In particular Regulation 429/07 Accessibility Standards for Customer Service and Regulation 191/11 Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulations.  More information about the Accessible Customer Service Regulations can be found at Ministry of Community and Social Services.

The following policies and plans help to guide the Township's responsibilities and requirements to ensure goods and services are provided in an accessible manner.

Accessibility Plan

The Township is also required to maintain an Accessibility Plan under the Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2001. For more information on accessibility, see the Understanding Accessibility page prepared by the Province of Ontario.

The Township's Plan is posted on this site and is available at the Hickson Municipal Office. The Township encourages comments and suggestions on the plan. The plan document contains a form that can be completed and submitted to the Township. The latest plan is available in PDF format on the right of this page.

Features have been added as well to support accessibility for text-only users, mobile users, and users with weak eyesight.

  3. Links leading to an external website will open in a new window and have an icon to indicate that it leads to an external website.
  4. Every photographic image will have an alternate description.
  5. All pages will be cross-browser tested on Internet Explorer, Safari, Firefox, and Google Chrome.
