Fire safety on farms is critical. With millions of dollars lost every year due to barn fires, not to mention countless livestock and valuable infrastructure, fire can be devestating to farms. The impact of a barn fire, both tangible and intangible is significant.
The Rural Fire Services of Oxford County (RFSOC) will be at Canada's Outdoor Farm Show (COFS) not only providing fire protection, but also providing fire safety education and awareness to attendees at their location on Masonville Lane.
"Farming is a big business in southern Ontario and Oxford County and fires come with potentially devastating economic impacts. The farming community have their own unique exposures when it comes to fire safety and prevention."
The RFSOC says prevention and education are key to managing risks and reducing the potential for fire on farms as well as other properties.
The Canada's Outdoor Farm Show provides the Rural Fire Services of Oxford County (RFSOC) with a great opportunity to reach out to the local farming industry and others attending the show to promote their message of fire prevention and fire safety education and awareness.
The RFSOC will be providing fire protection for COFS organization and its' vendors, as well as distributing fire safety materials, and hosting fire extinguisher demonstrations and training sessions during the show. Sparky the Fire Dog will also be on-site during COFS to spread the fire safety message to younger attendees.
