Oxford County Library contest celebrates all of the unique ways library branches interact with the community
The Oxford County Library (OCL) is celebrating Canada’s 150th anniversary of Confederation by amassing a list of 150 things to do at the library. All year long, patrons will be asked to contribute to the list by sharing personal photos and/or stories detailing their favourite library moments. These moments will be compiled and shared throughout the year to highlight library services and to celebrate all of the unique ways OCL branches interact with the community.
Patron photos and stories can be uploaded at www.ocl.net/CAN150atOCL with every submission earning a ballot towards a monthly draw featuring prizes from local businesses, like Gunn’s Hill Cheese, Ottercreek Woodworks, Patina’s, Oxford Honey and Supplies, Wild Comfort and Jakeman’s Maple Store. Participants can also earn additional ballots by sharing their favourite library moments on Twitter or Instagram using the hashtag #CAN150atOCL. More information and complete contest details can be found online at www.ocl.net/CAN150atOCL.
In addition to the contest, library staff will also celebrate Canada’s sesquicentennial by sharing famous and interesting Canadian quotes on Facebook. Followers can reminisce over Foster Hewitt’s classic line, “He shoots! He scores!” or discover little-known poetry from Leonard Cohen. Every day promises a new and interesting Canadian quote.
