Oxford County’s renewable energy and zero waste efforts have been recognized with a provincial award.
The Biomass North Development Centre handed out 10 awards in during a three day conference from Oct. 24 – 26 in North Bay.
Oxford County was named the “Climate Action Community of the Year,” which celebrates a municipality or First Nation that is making an effort to become a low carbon or zero-carbon community.
In the past year, the 100% Renewable Energy Plan and Zero Waste Plan have been released for public input, while laying out a road map for how Oxford will work towards these goals.
The award win is welcomed recognition and a shared victory for the community as we embark on our path towards sustainability.
