InformationOxford.ca and 211 have released the annual Holiday Sharing Guide for Oxford County to help the community share the joy this season. The guide is a complete listing of local food and gift drives being organized by organizations in the County. Having all of the information in one document makes it easier for residents to both give and get help.
In its sixth year, the Holiday Sharing Guide has grown to incorporate gift and clothing drives, hot meal and food programs and even the Santa Clause parade drives in each community that hosts one. It also lists community organizations and events where people can seek assistance with food, clothing, gifts and even financial support as the holiday season approaches.
People who are looking to offer donations can use the guide to find the right organizations or events in the “give help” section of the guide. Residents who need support this holiday season can approach one of the associations listed in the “get help” section of the guide.
If you are considering hosting a drive or an event, the Holiday Sharing Guide also provides important pointers, tips and ideas to host a successful event.
Another key section within the guide outlines the shelters and temporary emergency housing that is available to people in the County if they don’t have a place to escape from the cold this winter. The section also includes tips for protecting your health in cold weather with information on frostbite and hypothermia.
