Posted in the Announcements page on 05/04/2016 12:00:00 on Wednesday, May 04, 2016.

Did you know that Canada gets more tornadoes than any other country with the exception of the United States?  It is so important to be aware of the warning signs including:

  • Severe thunderstorms with frequent thunder and lightning
  • An extremely dark sky, sometimes highlighted by green or yellow clouds
  • A rumbling or whistling sound
  • A funnel cloud at the rear base of a thundercloud, often behind a curtain of heavy rain or hail.

A couple of years ago also marked the 35th Anniversary of the 1979 Tornado. The event served as a sobering reminder that things like this can happen here and illustrated the importance of being prepared.  To look back on the video created featuring stories of that day and those that followed, please visit "Memoirs: 1979 Tornado"
