Watermain Replacement & Road Rehabilitation
Oxford Road 59 (Woodstock St. N.), Tavistock

Oxford County has awarded a contract to replace watermain on Oxford Road 59 (Woodstock Street N.) in Tavistock to Birnam Excavating. Watermain between Jacob Street and Henry Street will be replaced as part of this contract. Watermain replacement work by Birnam Excavating is scheduled to be completed between April 11 – May 10, 2016.

Oxford County has also awarded a contract to resurface Oxford Road 59 (Woodstock Street N.) between Jacob Street and the northern County limits (near Dietrich Street) to Permanent Paving Ltd. of Woodstock, Ontario. This work includes cold recycling of the existing asphalt, and hot mix asphalt paving. Cold-in-Place asphalt recycling is anticipated to occur in May/June, followed by hot mix asphalt paving in July/August. Further notice will be provided when schedules are confirmed for these activities.

Traffic Control
The watermain replacement work will be completed using lane restrictions only. One lane of the road will remain open for alternating traffic flow.
Residents and businesses within the construction limits will be able to access their property, with the exception of very short duration closures when the contractor is working immediately in the vicinity of the driveway entrance. Residents will be notified in advance by site personnel before these short duration driveway closures occur. County staff and the Contractor will make every reasonable effort to maintain access for residents and businesses within the active construction zone.

Emergency Services, School Boards and Buses
Emergency services, school boards and buses will be notified of all road closures and lane restrictions

Garbage & Recycling
On garbage and recycling collection days, continue to place your garbage and recycling out at the curb as usual. The Contractor will be responsible for collecting garbage and recycling and moving it to a central area for pick up when access is restricted in certain areas. Please mark your house number on garbage and recycling containers to ensure they are returned to the correct address.
