Voting Period starts October 12!

Voting Period Starts Friday October 12 at 9:00 am!

The voting period for the 2018 municipal election is between 9:00 a.m. on October 12 and 8:00 p.m. on October 22.  You can vote at any time during this period.  Voting will be by Internet and Telephone ONLY and similar to previous Vote-By-Mail elections in the Township, there will be no polling stations. However, voting can be done from home or virtually anywhere else in the world with access to Internet or Telephone, and the use of a personal computer, mobile phone or tablet. Public Internet access is available in the Township at the Tavistock and Innerkip Library branches, during their regular hours of operation.

In order to vote in the 2018 municipal election, you must be on the Voter’s List and must receive a “Voter Instruction Letter” (VIL).  VILs have now arrived in the mail for all eligible electors who are currently on the Voter’s List. The VIL is not junk mail – do not throw it out and keep it in a safe place until you use it!  Included in the VIL will be voting instructions, as well as a unique Personal Identification Number (PIN) for the voter. Positions available for election are specific to the eligible elector receiving the VIL.

PLEASE NOTE:  If you received a VIL and are not an eligible elector at the qualifying address noted in the letter, DO NOT use the credentials contained in the VIL to vote.  Instead, please return the letter to the Voter Help Centre (Township Office - 90 Loveys Street, Hickson).  It is illegal to represent yourself as an eligible elector when you are not and vote.  It is also illegal to open another person’s mail and/or represent yourself as another person and steal their right to vote.  All of these acts carry serious penalties, as defined by law.

If you did not receive a VIL during the week of September 24, it means you were not included on the Voter’s List at the time when the VILs were printed and mailed out. If you have not already done so, please visit the Voter Help Centre in person (no email or fax information can be accepted) to make any additions, deletions or corrections to the Voter’s List.  You will need to complete the prescribed Form and provide identification showing proof of your name and qualifying address.

**PLEASE NOTE that the Voter Help Centre will be open Saturday October 13, 2018 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
