About EZT

The Township of East Zorra-Tavistock (EZT) is a small, rural municipality located in Oxford County.  The Township has a population of about 7,000 people.  About half live in the villages of Tavistock, Innerkip and Hickson, with about half living in the rural areas.  The Township's predominant industry is agriculture; however, there are many businesses located in the Township.  The largest employer in the area is Saputo Cheese in Tavistock.  Three nursing homes in Tavistock are also large employers.

Communities and History

The township was formed through the amalgamation of numerous communities, including:  Braemar, Cassel, East Zorra, Hickson, Huntingford, Innerkip, Perry Mine, Perrys Lane, Strathallan, Tavistock, Tollgate, and Willow Lake. The largest three towns are Tavistock, Innerkip, and Hickson.
